The Golden State Warriors are landing free agent forward Kyle Anderson on a three-year, $27 million contract, sources told ESPN on Tuesday.

The Warriors are executing a sign-and-trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves, acquiring Anderson for a future second-round pick swap and cash, sources said. The Warriors are using a Traded Players Exception created by the Klay Thompson departure to bring on Anderson.

The deal included a nonguaranteed third year, sources said.

Anderson, 30, spent the past two seasons with the Timberwolves, where he averaged 6.4 points, 4.2 assists and 3.5 rebounds a season ago. He’s a versatile forward with significant playmaking ability.

Anderson started his career with four seasons in San Antonio before playing four seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Warriors are also planning to hire Terry Stotts as lead assistant coach and Jerry Stackhouse as an assistant, sources told ESPN. Both come to Steve Kerr’s staff with significant head coaching experience.

Stotts had a successful nine-year run with the Trail Blazers and Stackhouse has been a G League and Southeastern Conference head coach since his retirement as a player.
