NAMI Broward County Hosts “NAMIWalks” at Nova Southeastern University

NAMI Broward County is organizing “NAMIWalks” from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5 at Nova Southeastern University, 3301 College Ave., Fort Lauderdale. The funds generated from the event will enable NAMI Broward County to aid thousands of individuals in Broward County who are grappling with mental health conditions and their families/caregivers by offering essential support services free of charge.

NAMIWalks is an event that celebrates and appreciates individuals who selflessly contribute their time, stories and passion to support the cause of mental health for the entire community. Supporters are invited to participate in the annual 5K walk to promote mental health awareness and solidarity.

NAMI Broward County is dedicated to eradicating the stigma associated with mental illnesses and improving the quality of life for all individuals affected by these diseases. The nonprofit organization provides free support groups, education classes and seminars, legislative advocacy, and information to the Broward County mental health community. Programs include Family-to-Family, Peer-to-Peer, Basics, Ending the Silence and participation in Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) for law enforcement personnel.

There is no fee to register for NAMIWalks. For more information or to register, please visit www.namiwalks.org/browardcounty. For sponsorship opportunities or additional information, contact Loren Carrillo at [email protected].
