As makers of professional fertilizer lines, including Osmocote controlled release fertilizers and Peters water-soluble fertilizers, global specialty minerals company ICL understands the challenges and needs of professional growers. Until now, challenges for North American commercial cannabis producers have included navigating a multitude of complicated and expensive nutrient programs.

With ICL’s launch of the Peters Professional Canna+ Fertilizer System, professional cannabis cultivators now have a simple, holistic nutrient system tailored specifically to CEA (controlled-environment agriculture) cannabis cultivation. Combined with appropriate growing conditions, the Canna+ Program enables cannabis professionals to eliminate the complexity and guesswork in their nutrient programs and grow bigger, better plants more efficiently, economically, and sustainably than ever before.

With the Peters Professional Canna+ Fertilizer System, cannabis growers can enjoy a simple, cost-effective program that enables them to hit nutrient targets at every crop stage—from cuts to finish—with stage-specific nutrition. The Canna+ Program delivers the highest quality ingredients and cleanest formulations available.

ICL Growing Solutions Western Regional Territory Manager Ian Bateman, a driving force behind the new program, brought a wealth of cannabis cultivation expertise in research and technical services to the creation of the new fertilizer series. Bateman explains, “What separates this program from the competition is you can do more with less. The program was put together so we’re able to hit the targets in terms of the nutrients the crop needs at every stage of its lifecycle—but you don’t have to use so much fertilizer to get there.”

Each specialized component of the Peters Professional Canna+ CEA program was chosen specifically for hydroponic cannabis cultivation in controlled growing environments, and comes backed by the Peters name:

  • Peters Professional 5-11-26 Hydroponic Special is the industry standard for greenhouse hydroponic production. This classic water-soluble formulation is the program’s foundation, delivering NPK, magnesium, and essential micronutrients with M-77 chelation for fast, efficient uptake.
  • Peters Professional 14-0-8 Hydroponic Boost was created for use with the Hydroponic Special. This product lives up to its name, delivering elevated levels of key elements most needed by plants grown in hydroponic CEA environments.
  • Peters Professional 0-5-30 Hydroponic Finisher supports a strong finish for cannabis in hydroponic media. This no-nitrogen formulation allows growers to reduce N levels by 30% and hit other nutrient targets with less fertilizer.
  • Peters Professional STEM Liquid provides a highly soluble micronutrient blend of 100-percent-plant-available chelated trace elements and EDTA micronutrients, that won’t clog irrigation lines or emitters.
  • H2Pro Liquid Surfactant was designed especially for irrigation systems. This concentrated wetting agent optimizes water-holding capacity and improves penetration and distribution of water and nutrients in the growing media, even with difficult-to-hydrate substrates.

“When it comes to the plant essential nutrients—which is what fertilizer is—we can absolutely simplify that into a few components and make it very simple for the end user,” says Bateman. “That’s what we can do. That’s what we have done with the Canna+ series.”
