Andy Taylor, a former Duran Duran guitarist has stage four prostate cancer

Andy Taylor, the guitarist for the British New Romantic band Duran Duran, is currently battling stage four of prostate cancer.

The announcement was made by the band on Saturday, as they were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in a ceremony held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Taylor, who was unable to join his bandmates John Taylor Simon Le Bon Roger Taylor, and Nick Rhodes for the Class of 2022 celebrations because of ongoing treatment, wrote a note to commemorate the occasion.

Taylor revealed that he received his diagnosis four years ago. He also spoke about his joy at being inducted into The Hall of Fame.

“There is nothing that can compare to such recognition. “You can only imagine what happened to us, but to experience it with your mates was incredible,” Taylor wrote in Le Bon’s message.

Taylor, 61, touched on his health concerns and said: “Many families experience the slow burn of the disease, and course, we are no exception; so I speak from a family man, but with profound humility towards the band, which could have the greatest fans of any group, and this extraordinary accolade.”

Taylor joined Duran Duran Duran back in 1980, but he left to pursue a solo career in 1986. After a string of concerts and the release of their 2004 album, “Astronaut”, Taylor rejoined Duran Duran in 2001. He quit again in 2006.

Taylor stated that he was “massively sad” to have missed the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Show. It was his first performance with the group in 16 years. He also said that he had purchased a new guitar for the occasion.

Taylor stated, “I’m so proud of these brothers, I am amazed at their endurance, and I’m overjoyed to accept this award.” “I doubted that the day would ever come. “I’m glad that I live to see it.”

Taylor wrote a letter that was later posted in its entirety on the band’s site. He stated that his condition was incurable but that he was being treated with “sophisticated life-extending therapy” that allowed him to “just keep on rocking on” until he had a “setback.”

He said, “Although my current situation is not life-threatening, there is no cure.”

According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), approximately one in eight men will develop prostate cancer in their lifetime.

Le Bon responded to Taylor’s Saturday health update by saying: “It’s devastating news to find out that a colleague… It is heartbreaking. Andy is our best friend and we love him deeply. Although I don’t believe that would be appropriate, that’s exactly what I feel.

Duran Duran was formed in 1978. They topped the US singles chart in the 1980s with hits like “The Reflex” or “A View to a Kill”.
