FHFA is establishing a mortgage fraud tip line

In several other posts, Pulte has denounced mortgage fraud. In one post, Pulte wrote, “There is no room for fraud in our mortgage markets. None. We will continue to root out frauds and cheats wherever we find it. No one and no company is above the law — no one.”

It’s unclear who will be investigating the claims or if there will be enforcement action involved. The FHFA did not immediately respond to HousingWire‘s request for comment.

Pulte’s crusade against mortgage fraud began as soon as he was appointed as the FHFA’s director. “Eliminating mortgage fraud and fraud in general will be a main focus at Fannie, Freddie, and the Federal Home Loan Banks,” he posted after his confirmation.

Last week, Pulte took to X to announce the termination of more than 100 Fannie Mae employees for “unethical conduct.”

“In President Trump’s housing market, there is no room for fraud, mortgage fraud, or any other deceitful act that can jeopardize the safety and soundness of the housing industry,” Pulte wrote.

“Since my swearing-in, we fired over 100 employees from Fannie Mae who we caught engaging in unethical conduct, including facilitating fraud, against our great company. Anyone who commits fraud against Fannie Mae does so against the American people.”
